Orientation to the School Journal
11/1/11
Before Sarah and I met up with our cooperating teacher, we emailed her to work out a time that works for all us. She was very enthused that we took initiative and we were able to meet with her before the field experience actually began. She explained to us what her classes consisted of, and how we could contribute to the class. She also had materials ready for us that day. We talked about how Sarah and I could get the students more involved with MSU by taking a tour of the campus and listening to speakers. We planned which days would work best for us to come, and which hours we would be available to teach.
At a different time, we got a tour of the school which I believe has benefitted us already. Since we have began our field experience, we have had to use almost every resource room and it was great that we already knew where they were. Laurie also gave us an overview of the FACS program and showed us the other classrooms in which it is located. Overall, the experience was very welcoming, organized, and a good foundation for a great clinical.
